Comedians aren’t just at risk of cabin fever during this time of social distancing and self-isolation, gig cancellations have meant not just loss of earnings but also fewer chances to try out new material or build audiences. However, being a creative lot, comedians have been flexing their comedy muscles online, using YouTube, Twitch, Twitter and other sites to connect with audiences, new and established alike. To help you get your comedy fix, every week we’ll be putting together a list of projects we’ve spotted online by funny women…
You can find Laura Lexx on YouTube with her version of the news in News Drip and reading her (as yet) unpublished book As We Know It, which you can also read here. If you like Laura’s book and/or take on the news then you can buy her a coffee here!
Bec Hill will be streaming her show I’ll be Bec on Next Up’s Twitch channel on 14th April at 8.00pm followed by a live Q&A. Bec has also taken part in the Stay at Home Festival, you can catch her in the archive videos section here.
2013 Funny Women Awards finalist Elf Lyons can be seen on her Twitch channel reading horror aloud from pages picked BY YOU, or singing as her character Saint Bernard. If you enjoy Elf’s channel you can buy her a coffee here!
Funny Women’s Regional Network Producer Emily Kennedy-Barnes launched the first Funny Women Comedy Workout! We met on Zoom with over 80 participants from our Funny Women community and took part in a workshop led by Logan Murray. We’ll be holding more of these soon, so keep a look out for upcoming dates!
We will be back next week with more projects, you can tweet us @funnywomen or contact us on Facebook if you have a project you want us to share…
