Streaming service Netflix has signed 2008 Funny Women Awards winner Katherine Ryan for a second comedy special, after she became the second British-based stand-up comedian to have a Netflix special on global release with her show Kathbum, renamed In Trouble.
Katherine’s latest show Glitter Room, which is currently running at the Garrick Theatre, will be recorded for the site and has recently had its run extended to a fourth week due to popular demand.
In conversation with The I Paper’s Alice Jones, Katherine talked about how she likes to put on a show: “If people are coming to see me in a theatre, and they have a babysitter, I feel like it’s rude not to give them a little bit of showbiz. I think it’s RuPaul’s Drag Race that says: do your make-up for the people in the cheap seats.”
This won’t be Katherine’s only appearance on Netflix, as she will be a team captain on its first panel show The Fix. Jimmy Carr will be on hosting duties while DL Hughley will be another team captain.
