Funny Women

DOUG is a short comedy horror that follows Daisy Spade, a gardener, as she navigates her brother Doug’s disappearance. Returning to work, she makes the unsettling discovery of Doug’s body buried in a client’s garden; the sweet and unassuming Nanna. Her ensuing journey includes singing flowers, a reanimating corpse and a thrilling face-off before culminating in a darkly comedic reflection on our disconnection from the natural world. Oh, and it’s a sung through musical!

DOUG offers a bold and playful take on the climate crisis as well as human connection. Inspired by British cult favourites like Inside No. 9, Flowers and Sightseers, it combines a jet-black comedy with visual references straight from the golden age of musicals.

Lucy Hilton-Jones is the writer, director and “Daisy” in DOUG; a two-time Funny Women Award Finalist and known for her surreal horror comedies. Once a professional gardener, Lucy teamed up with Alistair Goldie to create DOUG. Alistair’s work as a writer, composer, and actor has been recognised on the national and international film festival circuit, including Best Original Song at Diversity in Cannes.

The team have been developing DOUG for years and have been shortlisted for several prestigious funds but never managed to get any money. This is why they need your help! £10k is a small film budget, but an enormous fundraising challenge.

It’s an all or nothing campaign so if £10K isn’t raised, they lose all funding! Your pledge will get you some amazing rewards from getting your name in the credits to a bespoke gardening session.

Pledge now and share the campaign with anyone who might be interested in being a valuable member of an original and ambitious film! Dig deep for DOUG!
