Bella Hull lets out her inner child, and now it’s at large. Hide your kids, hide your wives, hide your lunch. She’ll eat them all for breakfast.
Tell us about your show.
My show Piggie is about self control, efficiency, and my total, devastating lack of either. It’s a long, adventurous journey that includes advent calendars, Chihuahuas, and iPads. It’s silly, it’s dark, it’s dirty, and it’s on everyday at 9:45pm.
How does it feel to be performing at the Edinburgh Fringe?
I’m really excited! I took a year out last year and I missed it so much. I love the overpriced drinks, and the overpriced accommodation, and the overpriced food of dubious quality. I also have an affliction where I can’t work without a deadline, so doing another Fringe show has been a useful, terrifying spectre looming over me for the last few months. But in a fun way! In a fun way. I promise.
Have you got any tips for comedians going up to the festival for the first time?
No. But if they have any for me, I’d really appreciate it! Please get in touch. I’d really, really like you to get in touch. Please? At your earliest convenience. Thank you.
Who are the funny women you would recommend seeing in Edinburgh this year?
I can’t wait to see Bebe Cave’s show ‘The Screen Test’, or Sarah Robert’s show ‘Silkworm’, or Katie Norris’ ‘Farm Fatale’.
They’ve all been amazing when I’ve seen them at previews – so get a ticket before they all sell out!
Bella Hull: Piggie takes place at Pleasance Courtyard, Bunker 3, from 31st July to 26th August 9.45pm. Book tickets here.
