Brighton Dome Comedy Festival and Komedia are joining forces from 16th – 25th October bringing a 10-day programme to two of the city’s best loved venues, and Funny Women is right at the heart of it. On Saturday 24th October, the iconic Funny Women Live in Brighton showcase returns to Komedia with a powerhouse line-up of female and non-binary performers.
The expanded 10-day extravaganza bridges grassroots comedy with major theatre stages. Most importantly for us, this year’s programme is packed with incredible female and non-binary acts, award-winners, and Funny Women favourites.
If you’re planning your festival itinerary, here are just a few of the brilliant comedians you cannot afford to miss:
Maisie Adam provides her trademark wit, firecracker gags and angry outbursts in her new show Whatsherface. Funny Women Award winner Laura Smyth brings her effortless storytelling and hilarious, no-nonsense stand-up to the stage.
Comic, actor, and hugely popular podcast host Catherine Bohart delivers sharp observational comedy and brilliant crowd work. Rosie Holt appears as her viral MP alter ego in a sci-fi streaked satire in The Illegal Aliens Have Landed!
Taskmaster star Stevie Martin weighs up the differences between online and live comedy in her clever new show Clout. Celya AB brings her brand new hour of stand-up We Must Stop Meeting Like This.
The critically acclaimed Amy Matthews comic performs her signature introspective, beautifully constructed observational stand-up, and comedian, singer, and actor Sooz Kempner delivers a stand-up show all about finding your voice.

“I am delighted to be part of the Brighton Dome Comedy Festival in cahoots with Komedia. It’s a very proud moment for Funny Women and a brilliant opportunity to showcase female and non-binary stand up on the Brighton stage.”
Rosie Crane, Head of Programme at Brighton Dome, said:
“This is our biggest and funniest comedy festival yet! Teaming up with Komedia to bring Brighton all the silliest shows from across the live comedy spectrum is a dream come true. Whatever your age and laughter leanings there’s plenty to giggle at. See how many shows you can pack in and I’ll see you on the dance floor for All My Friends!”
Roxy Van Der Post, Marketing & Innovations Manager at Komedia, said:
“Brighton is the place to be for comedy this October, with a programme bursting at the seams! From a long-awaited show by character comedians Siblings to a fundraiser hosted by Rich Wilson, a Komedia favourite MC, and the return of political sketch writer John Crace, our newly announced events truly cover the full comedy spectrum. Move over, Spooktober, it’s all about comedy this year.”
