Still Standing
Lynne
Over the last few weeks there have been many occasions when my usual sense of humour and general optimism has left me. The ‘dip’ comes suddenly and unexpectedly, often triggered by a diary notification about an event that I should have been running or attending, or a reminder of something that happened, two, three or even 10 years ago back in the ‘old days’. Our world has changed forever and let’s not forget this as we relax lockdown over the next few weeks.
Those of us who run live events have been hit hard, so my dip in mood is understandable. On a more positive note though, I’m happy we have gone ahead with the 2020 Funny Women Awards and entries have exceeded our expectations. Plus, we’ve used the online opportunity to develop and expand Funny Women’s events and workshops to new homebound audiences and this has proven to be more successful that I could ever have imagined.
Will this last? Who knows. It’s up to us now to explore how we continue as there’s clearly a demand. The global opportunity is amazing and we’ve had participants joining our events and our new Comedy Crash Courses from all over the world.
We’d love to collaborate with more organisations to help us run and develop our programme of online events. We have greatly honed our own talents by sharing our expertise virtually so, in these uncertain times if you’re looking for new avenues to go down with your business’s presence online and reach you might want to consider working with us!
I couldn’t have done any of this without the full support of the incredible Funny Women Team, who have all made sacrifices to keep our community going and stepped up to do things they don’t usually do. Having the amazing Jo Brand as our ‘matron’ is another incentive to keep on going and look out for news about an event she is hosting for us on Tuesday 30th June.
Together, we’re still standing and long may it last.
