As the UK’s leading female comedy community we are making sure that we’re here for you during these strange times. We’ll be coming to your aid every Friday with our new podcast The Funny Women Survival Guide, where we bring together (digitally, we’re social distancing here) women in comedy to share their tips on how to stay upbeat during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Hosted by writer-performer Alexis Strum in partnership with Funny Women, The Funny Women Survival Guide is a chat show with a difference, offering honest discussion as well as tongue-in-cheek tips and recommendations from our fabulous guests on what to watch during self-isolation.
Alexis says: “I already knew Lynne from when she performed a story at my comedy storytelling night, The Time I Almost and we were just having a catch up when the idea came about- we were both saying how scared and anxious we were but that we believed there was an opportunity to use our skills and contacts to create some positive content. A podcast with all our favourite funny women seemed like the perfect way to do that… This podcast is hopefully a kind of ‘living document’ of where we are now in these COVID-19 times and it will be amazing to listen back to it once this is all over and ask ourselves, ‘wow, did that really happen?!'”
Episode one is out now, listen to host Alexis Strum as she chats to 2019 Funny Women Awards finalist and winner respectively, Sian Davies and Laura Smyth about how they are coping during this rather unfunny COVID-19 crisis.
The three chat boxed wine, dogs upstaging us on conference calls and how superheroes and even Paw Patrol can help you through the apocalypse! And of course, Lynne Parker, founder and CEO of Funny Women joins them in the (virtual) studio to talk about the digital Funny Women Awards which are open now.
The Funny Women Survival Guide is available on Acast, Spotify, iTunes, I Heart Radio, Podmust and Tunedin
