Last night the winners of the prestigious Chortle Awards were announced at a ceremony in London attended by London Hughes, Helen Lederer, Jan Ravens and more. We at Funny Women were delighted to see so many women win against stiff competition, particularly as the winners are selected by audience vote.
2015 Funny Women Awards runner up Sarah Keyworth won Best Newcomer, while Kiri Pritchard-McLean was a double winner, scooping up Best Compere and Best Breakthrough Act.
Comedy duo Lazy Susan won the Character, Improv and Sketch Award and Suzi Ruffell won Best Club Comic. 2010 Funny Women Awards runner up Rachel Parris won Music and Variety Act and 2008 Funny Women Awards winner Katherine Ryan won Best TV Comedian. Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette arriving on Netflix was named Event of the Year.
Some fantastic selections if we do say so ourselves. You can find out the rest of the winners here!
