Sarah Kendall, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Hannah George and Tasha Dhanraj all won gongs last night at the 60th Writers’ Guild of Great Britain awards, hosted by Joanna Scanlan.
Fleabag writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge received the award for best long-form TV drama for the hit thriller Killing Eve, while story telling comedian Sarah Kendall won best radio comedy for the second volume of her Australian Trilogy monologues.
Hannah George, of the Drunk Women Solving Crime podcast, won best online comedy, alongside co-writer Tasha Dhanraj for their BBC Three sketch Where Are You From? The Game.
Joanna Scanlan said: “There have been so many amazing pieces of work across all disciplines and it is thrilling to see new stories from writers established or brand new being celebrated.
“It is especially encouraging to see women writers scooping a number of the awards for their brilliant and entertaining work, highlighting that it’s about time that there is more equality for women writers.”
