Tick another box on the list of ‘things that happen to women once a month’, as The Lady Show in Vancouver, Canada has just kicked off.
The Lady Show is a comedy show with an all-female line-up. Importantly, they do it because they want to and not because they have to. And I imagine they eat as much chocolate as they damn well like.
Six women took to the stage for the first two-hour show on October 9th: Erica Dawn Sigurdson, Fatima Dhowre, Katie-Ellen Humphries, Kathryn Kirkpatrick, Morgan Brayton, and Robyn Daye Edwards. There was a mix of sketches, stand-up routines and monologues for the capacity crowd – yup, the very first show sold out completely.
I wish I’d been there to review it for you, because this sounds like my kind of show.
Readers in the Vancouver area can catch The Lady Show on the second Friday of every month. It’s at the Little Mountain Gallery. The gallery’s no stranger to comedy of the female variety, hosting regular shows, events and cabaret-style variety nights. The next one’s in November… on Friday 13th. Eek. Don’t expect such an auspicious date to go unmentioned.
