We’ve been fans of 2013 Funny Women Awards runner up Elf Lyons since, well, 2013. She originally introduced herself as a bit of a geek but her new mission is to be sexy and her guide is comic book turned film hero Barbarella. A character Jane Fonda is not ashamed of and therefore nor is Elf.
I should start by telling you Elf is a bit of a hero. She entered the room in a space suit with her own improvised smoke machine before stripping (oh yes) and then ejecting some men from the room who touched her bottom as she passed because Elf’s a real stickler about not starting a show with sexual assault and quite right too.
If you want to be sexy then obviously you have to study people who are sexy. Elf wants to be one of those confident women at the bar, but being the weird one at an all girls boarding school has meant she might have missed out on some vital training. She picked Barbarella as her muse because she is confident, regularly saves the day and engages in enjoyable sex. Who doesn’t want that?
An upbeat show about self discovery, awkwardness, sexual binaries and sex positive porn. Also some panda hate. Which I am down with.
