On the rainiest day in recent history the Funny Women Comedy Shorts Awards finalists Carolyn Goodyear, Aurora Fearnley, Letty Butler and Lucy Pearman and winner Sally Cancello, gathered together to meet and chat to Awards Judge and British film director, Gurinder Chadha OBE, pictured right.

Gurinder Chadha is best known for the hit films Bhaji on the Beach, Bend It Like Beckham, Bride and Prejudice and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Her latest project is the comedy film It's a Wonderful Afterlife.

The finalists got advice about how to best break into the industry, what it takes to 'make it' and tips for finding your own unique storytelling voice. As well as answering questions from the finalists, Gurinder chatted about her own experiences and how she got her first break into feature film directing.

Our Comedy Shorts Award winner, Sally Cancello, got to chat to Gurinder on a one-to-one basis for great advice and a mentoring session on film as part of her prize.
