People Pleaser is a love letter to people from all walks of life with that almost primal instinct to say “YES!” to everything. It’s well observed with a huge heart and, not to mention, very funny!

It’s a difficult thing for me when I connect so heavily with material and realise I can’t just have a full-blown conversation with an act in the middle of their set, but that’s exactly what happened at this show! Jade warmly welcomed us into the space and made us feel instantly at ease.

While it’s often a bit intimidating to watch stand-ups in intimate venues in fear of being picked on, we were assured from the outset that she may ask us questions simply to get to know us and if it’s clear we don’t want to answer, she’d quickly move on. She is, as the title of the show suggests, a people pleaser after all!

Whilst not only being thoroughly entertained by Jade’s quick wit and lovable energy, I also learnt a lot. Namely, I’m not the only one weird enough to sit up front with the taxi driver, how to live with myself after embarrassing situations and how it’s ok to love a cosy crime drama!

As the show draws to a close, Jade delivers a hilarious finale that ultimately confirms she can, and she will, please everybody!

You can catch Jade Gebbie’s show at 12:15 daily until 30th August at Nic 4, Nicolson square as part of Hoots Fringe. Tickets here!
