We've held shows, workshops and Awards heats across the country but we aren't content with just keeping you up to date with UK comedy news. Often we dip our toes in across the pond and we are very excited to see what the latest is with the Women in Comedy Festival in Boston, USA.

This will be the sixth Women in Comedy Festival in Boston. The organisers continues on their mission which is "To bring together women and men from all walks of comedy: improv, sketch, stand up, musical comedy, and storytelling stand up…Our goal is to close the gender gap in comedy by simply allowing talented women to showcase their best work. Our festival is open to show and workshop submissions from people of all genders."

Kicking off on Thursday 8th May the festival will run until Sunday 11th May and will be celebrating the cream of women's comedy in North America. Maria Bamford will be there – hopefully regaling the crowd with her surprisingly accurate pug impressions. Maria is joined by fellow headliners Judy Gold, Wendy Leibman, Cameron Esposito, Jackie Kashian, and Erin Jackson

As well as stand up shows the festival will be holding workshops and panels all centred around comedy. Our founder Lynne Parker visited last year and contributed as a panel member and workshop leader.

Talking about her experience Lynne said at the time: "There are strong similarities between the US and the UK with female comedy. I really hope we can attract some of these women over to the UK to perform some time soon."

It looks set to be another year of showcasing fantastic female comedy from across the US and we look forward to seeing some new faces emerge from the Boston based festival to perform over here in the UK.

As we cannot attend this year, we would welcome any reviews or comment pieces about the Festival.  Just send any editorial submissions to editor@funnywomen.com. We look forward to reading all about it!
