We’re excited to announce that heats have now begun for the sixth We Got Tickets 2014 Musical Comedy Awards! As one of the biggest annual celebrations of all things funny and musical, the team behind the MCA have spent the last five years supporting, promoting and celebrating the best emerging musical comedians in the UK. Last year’s finalists included Tina Tea Lady, who bagged third place before making it to the semi-final of the 2013 Funny Women Awards.

For the past half a decade, the Awards have made a name for themselves as the place to catch up-and-coming talent. Over the years, they’ve provided a launch pad for acts like Frisky and Mannish (finalists all the way back in 2009), Jay Foreman (Best Newcomer 2009) and Abandoman (winners in 2010). The heats have also been a chance to catch some of the genre’s biggest superstars – think Mitch Benn, Isy Suttie and Pippa Evans to name but a few.

For the first time ever, this year’s heats will be taking place at the Black Heart pub in Camden. This year’s final takes place once at the Bloomsbury Theatre on 25th April, with a top £500 prize courtesy of WeGotTickets up for grabs. There’s also a £200 prize for Best Newcomer, and all finalists will also benefit from the opportunity to perform at university showcases and beyond!
