Cynthia Levin: Unprepared for Life

It was a lovely evening of comedy at The Hob in Forest Hill last Thursday.  Having just arrived back in the UK the day before from holiday in America, I was worried I’d be too tired to fully enjoy the preview but I was engaged right from the start by Cynthia’s hilarious anecdotes and warm presence on stage.

Cynthia Levin’s show Unprepared for Life will appease your inner slacker while at the same time making you feel better about your life in comparison as she shares her self-inflicted horror stories.

The show follows her journey as she cheated her way from Chicago to LA, to New York, then LA again, then finally to London where she is determined to do it the right way this time. Along the way we learn about the glories of Denny’s, why comics are better than actresses and how Cynthia disappointed her Jewish mom with her weakness for Aryan men.

The ending was unexpectedly moving and you can see why Cynthia was going to turn it into a film before deciding she wanted to wait until she 'didn’t have to make up the good parts.' This is not one to miss if you are going up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year.

Unprepared for Life is on at Whynot? as part of PBH's Free Fringe from Sunday 3rd August to Sunday 25th August at 1.45pm. You can book tickets HERE.
