Do you want to crack America? Know a female comedian in America looking for a gig? The 5th Annual Women In Comedy Festival has just opened its doors for 2013 submissions.

The Festival will run from Thursday, March 21st – Sunday, March 24th in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA and will include acclaimed stand-up comedians, improv and sketch groups, musical comedy groups and solo artists, and storytellers. Shows take place at multiple venues throughout the city including ImprovBoston, The Comedy Studio, Grandma’s Basement, Middlesex Lounge, The Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall at the Longy School of Music, and Great Scott.

There will be panel discussions to increase the dialogue among comedians and provide vital information about the creative and business side of comedy. Most panels are open and free to the public. Workshops with award winning working comedians and bookers are also available to the public, and the festival is a great place to be scouted.

Women in Comedy’s aim is to close the gender gap in comedy. Despite the name of the festival, it isn’t gender specific and submissions from male as well as female comedians are welcomed. Now in its fifth year, WICF has hosted hundreds of comedic artists including Rachel Dratch, Edie McClurg, Kristen Schaal, Maria Bamford, Morgan Murphy, Jackie Kashian and Jen Kirkman.  You can even catch a glimpse of one of our fave Scottish acts, Janey Godley, on this brilliant video clip here from Lauren Maul:
