Viv Groskop is described as “charmingly leftfield with a warm, oddball sense of humour.” Which doesn’t sound entirely complimentary but never mind. She first performed with Stephen Fry in a Footlights show at the age of eighteen and then did nothing on stage for two decades.  Instead she became a journalist. After several false starts and a lucky break hosting Jo Brand’s book tour, she started doing stand-up properly last year. She won Spontaneity Shop’s Maestro Improv earlier this year and reached the semi-finals of So You Think You’re Funny 2012 at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh in August. She still feels it is all a terrible mistake and is waiting for someone to put a stop to this nonsense once and for all.
