Hannah Byczkowski is a stand up comedian, writer, and podcaster. Byczkowski won the first UK season of The Traitors, for which she won an NTA. Her podcast Ghost Huns, which she co-hosts, regularly appears in the Top 10 Comedy Podcasts.

How did you get into comedy/writing/producing?

I got into comedy after a long career in Palliative care. I had not long turned 30 and realised I needed to feed the creative side in me. I initially tried writing a book but that seemed like it would take ages so stand up comedy it was!

Tell us about your comedy style.

My style of comedy is observational and my take on everything I talk about, finding humour in the everyday. I love storytelling elements to my show too, evolving an experience I had which might be ordinary and creating a joke out of it.

What is your show about?

My show Killer is about death. It’s finding the funny in our biggest fear. It features experiences of my time working in care and there’s also a murder mystery… which you can’t not love, right?

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Family and friends are the main source of inspiration. I will watch them all with a keen eye and then re-write their comments and conversation as my own. Please don’t tell them that. They will either stop being funny altogether or be completely smug.

How does it feel to be going to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time?

I am really excited about going to The Fringe for the first time doing a full show. I am nervous of course, but what could go wrong? My dreams and aspirations crashing around me? Hahahah….ha….h
