Pleasance expands Fringe Programme for 2026

This summer, Pleasance returns to the heart of the Fringe. From global comedy heavyweights to first-time performers, intimate new writing to large-scale spectacle, a further 95 shows announced today expand a programme that reflects the range and energy of the festival. More than a programme, it is a snapshot of the Fringe, where breakthrough acts, established names and future classics share the same stages. 

Acclaimed comedians heading to Pleasance this summer include; Flo & Joan with their award-winning Edinburgh Fringe smash hit One Man Musical, audiences watch an icon of the musical theatre world finally turn the spotlight onto the one story he’s yet to tell: his own. 

Fringe favourite Lucy Porter unveils The Name of the Games (WIP), a brand-new hour of stand-up all about the life lessons she’s learned from quiz and games shows.

Following three consecutive years of sell-out Fringe runs, Patti Harrison is back with Just Ironing  Some Things Out!, for pure, chaotic fun, joined by some of her friends.

At the EICC for an exclusive limited run, Hannah East presents a new comedy show that hilariously captures the madness of parenting in a brutally honest, wildly relatable, and laugh-out-loud way.

Last year’s Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Show nominee Katie Norris heads back to Pleasance  with new musical comedy show Mother Succubus, set to spook boys of the manosphere. 

Funny Women Award Winner Rosalie Minnitt’s cult-hit Lady Clementine returns for a second chapter in Clementine  2.

Funny Women Award’s One to Watch Courtney Büchner becomes your next best friend, and ultimately Instagram follower, in One of the Girls.  

Set to make their Fringe debuts at Pleasance are: Cecily Hitchcock, will take audiences on a nostalgic dive into 2000s Britain in Family Recipe.

Online comedy sensation Imogen Andrews, debuts with her highly anticipated Fringe show The Unlikeable Worms packed with sketches, song, multimedia and worms.

Further newcomers to Pleasance are ready to make their mark. Duo Lara Ciulli and Riana White take Those People, introducing two struggling best friends as they cliff-dive,  naked into a joyfully absurd hour of clowning, chair-duets and uncompromising vulnerability.  Former Page 3 model, Keeley Hazell auditions to play “Keeley”, a version of herself she no  longer recognises in Everyone’s Seen My Tits

Star of Saturday Night Live UK and last year’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best NewcomerAyoade Bamgboye returns to Pleasance for three shows only with her critically acclaimed debut stand-up show about suffering. And for five nights only, Ada & Bron bring back their smash-hit and critically acclaimed debut Origin of Love, a cursed couple’s character comedy spectacle. 

Returning for its 20th show is the Pleasance Comedy Reserve. Catch four of the best up-and coming comedians, hand-picked by Pleasance; this year’s line-up features Ciara O’Connor, Eli Hart, Laura Walsh and Roman Harris. Previous alumni include Joe Lycett, Brett Goldstein, Roisin Conaty, Jack Whitehall and loads more.  

The Pleasance Theatre Trust is a leading UK arts charity dedicated to creating space for emerging voices, bright ideas and outstanding performance. With a proud history rooted in the  Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a permanent base in Islington, London, the Trust fosters theatrical innovation, accessibility and growth within the performing arts.

Are you a budding Director? Producer? Screenwriter? Are you collaborating with friends to make a funny video? Then we are looking for YOU!

If you have a short film or sketch that you think is hilarious, then enter your work for our Comedy Shorts Award to be in with a chance of winning some life-changing support and mentoring from comedy professionals.

WHAT KIND OF FILM ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

A 1- 6 minute film that can take the form of anything comical. It’s a great opportunity to show us your creative flair and have fun!

WHO CAN ENTER?

This award is open to all women filmmakers and content developers. The film must be an original narrative created, produced and devised by a woman, or women, although male cast and crew members are allowed.

ARE THERE ANY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR MY FILM?

Yes – we require all films to be 6 minutes or under, to be entirely original dialogue, to not feature brand logos and most importantly, to only use music with the written consent of the performer and/or publisher either personally or via the PRS system https://www.prsformusic.com/ .

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH MY FILM?

We will broadcast selected entries on our Funny Women YouTube channel and social media (so keep an eye out) and the top 10 finalists’ films will also hosted on a dedicated Funny Women Comedy Shorts Awards page on our website. We will also broadcast the final 3 entries as part of the grand final night.

HOW IS IT JUDGED?

Films are judged for production, concept, delivery/performance, creativity, writing and overall funniness. The top 10 films are then viewed by an independent judging panel of top television and film industry professionals who will choose one overall winner and two runners up. The final three will be invited to attend the grand final in London on the 23rd September.
