THE GLITTER PROJECT SPARKLES AT COMEDY STORE
Kelly Griffiths
Tuesday night marked the platinum birthday of our Funny Women queen bee, our head honcho, our very own, Lynne Parker… and boy does she know how to celebrate! In true Lynne fashion, she dedicated her birthday celebrations to empowering female and non-binary comedians at the infamous Comedy Store, London all in the name of raising much needed support and funds for The Glitter Project.
13 Acts, one phenomenal Host, balloons and countless cackles.
If you don’t already know about the fantastic work set up as a legacy to our dearly missed Jo Fletcher-Cross, read all about it here. The Glitter Project continues to honour her memory by providing vital support and opportunities to a new wave of comedic talent.
Back to the night itself; before anyone touched the microphone the party vibe was in full swing. Complete with flowing drinks, mingling and none other than Miss Ballooniverse who (not only made balloon modelling sexy!) donned everyone with their own balloon accessory!
Ivy Paige (AKA Lucy Ryan) took to the mic in her iconic hot pink pant-suit and continued to bring the party vibes. Whenever you watch Ivy hosting, you know you’re in for belly laughs, glamour and a healthy dollop of frisky fun!
The whole line-up consisted of past and present Glitter Challenge mentors and mentees and it was such a joy to see how thrilled the mentors were to introduce the acts they so proudly guided to get to this point. It was even more joyful to see every single one knock it out of the park and enjoy every second.
Our Mentors were, as always, outstanding! From improvised dating mishaps to TCP talk, from boob grabs to breast feeding milk tassels; no act was the same!
The Devonshire cream on top (or should I say jam!) of this beautifully layered rainbow cake of a line-up was headliner, Suzy Bennett.
Suzy’s quick wit, audience camaraderie and observational comedy are effortlessly on point. Returning to the Funny Women stage exactly 20 years after winning the Funny Women Awards, Suzy’s performance was a masterclass in how to take an audience on a hilarious journey through every corner of your wonderfully weird mind and celebrate it!
All in all, a very special evening for a very special cause and none of it would have been possible without one very very special lady. Happy birthday, Lynne 💞 Long live the Glitter Project! ✨✨✨
If you couldn’t make it on Tuesday but would still love to show your support, you can make a donation to The Glitter Project here.
