Funny Women is proud to celebrate the success of Funny Women award winner Lorna Rose Treen, whose latest achievement sees her join the writing team behind the highly anticipated UK launch of Saturday Night Live.
Treen made history at the 2022 Funny Women Awards by becoming the first person to win two of our awards in the same year; taking home both the Stage Award and the Comedy Shorts Award. As a Funny Women Award winner, Treen represents the bold, original voice we have championed for over two decades.
The hugely successful US-based sketch show is getting a Great British makeover. Every Saturday night for six weeks, SNL will be aired live from the London studio, bringing some much-needed chaos and comedy to our screens. With a stacked roster of celebrity hosts, musical guests, and a huge team of up-and-coming comedians and writers, you can expect hilarious sketches that draw on the biggest political and pop culture stories of the moment.
The character comedian, writer and improviser triumphed in the Stage Award, playing a chain-smoking femme fatale and also won the Comedy Shorts Award for her film, My Entertainment Badge, where she portrayed a badge hungry Brownie.
Since winning the Funny Women Stage Award in 2022, Treen has gained success from her standout Edinburgh Fringe performance and now plays a key creative role on one of the world’s most recognisable comedy formats. We can’t wait to see what the future brings for her.
You can catch SNLUK on NowTV every Saturday Night for 6 weeks.
