Funny Women

The registration for the Next Up Stage Award, Comedy Writing Award sponsored by Sky Studios and Comedy Shorts Award supported by LSFF closed for 2022.

Due to high entrant numbers, we have had a look and revised our dates and timelines. Put it this way, a 10 page script takes approximately 16-18 mins to read and there are hundreds of entires. Every 5 min entry for the stage award is viewed by at least 2 judges and there are over 400, quick maths equals about 67 hours of jokes!

We want to make things fair and equitably for everyone across the 3 categories, so we are adjusting the time lines as follows.

There is still time to nominate a friend (or yourself!) for the heat Content Creator Award, which closes on 25th August 2022 here.

This year, the prizes are GREAT and you can see them here.

Judging Process

Every entry is allocated to a panel of judges from Funny Women and the comedy and broadcast industry. Every entry will be scored by at least two different judges before the marks averages are worked out and the longlist created.

Those lucky enough to be on the longlist will be announced on 19th July 2022.

Again, all entries will be judged twice before their scores are averaged and those with the highest marks are shortlisted.

The shortlist will be announced on 25th August 2022.

These shortlisted entries will then be judged by each of our exclusive panel of top industry professionals, who will then decide which will make it to the top three.

The top three will be announced in September 2022.

The winner of each award will be announced at the Funny Women Stage Award final on the 29th September at Bloomsbury Theatre, London.
