Wearing her Funny Women t-shirt with pride we are delighted to hear from Tracey Barr on how she discovered Funny Women, her involvement and why being a member can be so beneficial.
Tracey tells us, “I became involved with Funny Women when I met the fabulous founder, Lynne Parker through Sister Snog, a membership club for female entrepreneurs. Initially I dipped my toe in the water by attending Funny Women events, which I always enjoy. But, as l got to know Lynne better through singing in a choir together we have become great friends and I have gradually became more and more involved – becoming a Best Funny Friend, attending workshops as well as events, being on the Advisory Board and even being a judge in the early rounds of the Funny Women Awards.
There are many reasons I am a huge supporter but perhaps the most important one for me is how it helps women from all different ages, backgrounds and walks of life to build their self confidence and get their voice heard – and not only those who are comedy performers or writers, but business women, like me, who may not be as confident as you might imagine and may struggle to get their voice heard in the workplace. And, of course, the events they host are great fun, both online and in person. I always come away feeling uplifted, not only from having laughed so much but also from seeing what a supportive, welcoming community they have built.”
