I don’t know about you, but my intended Super Hot Girl Summer has never materialised. I don’t know quite what happened, but it must be something to do with summer never actually arriving, because I sure as hell am still a hot girl 😉 Hot Girl nearly-Autumn it is then! And where better for me to spend it than staring lovingly into the faces of wonderful comedians on stages?

It’s deep deep Funny Women Awards season right now and all systems are very much go in these towers — so, make sure you tune into the Grand Final, which is an in-person hoopla and online stream so everyone can get involved. Honestly, it’s such a great night and the talent level as ever is super high. So much fun to be had!

My September calendar is already getting pretty full up, and it would be selfish to keep all that to myself so, please have a look at these, and maybe I’ll see you across a crowded audience some time…

Sara Pascoe and Friends fundraiser

Wednesday, 1st September, Bloomsbury Theatre

Sara Pascoe is hosting a huge show at the Bloomsbury Theatre to raise cash for The English Collective of Prostitutes, who work super hard to support and advocate for sex workers. She’s joined by Deborah Frances White, Shaparak Khorsandi, Lulu Popplewell and more to be announced. For tickets and more information click here!

Sukh Ojla: Life Sukhs

On tour from Friday, 3rd September

After the success of her debut solo hour For Sukh’s Sake (five stars from Funny Women!), the hugely talented Sukh Ojla is taking her new show around the country. Exploring mental illness and moving back in with her parents (can relate on both counts), she looks at what happens when life doesn’t go exactly to plan. For tickets and more information click here!

The Break Up Monologues

Friday, 3rd September, King’s Place

Odd, comforting and downright bizarre stories of heartbreaks and mending head to the London Podcast Festival, as host Rosie Wilby welcomes three very special guests — Ania Magliano, Vix Leyton and Haley McGee — to talk about their breakups. For tickets and more information click here!

Olga Koch: Homecoming

Monday, 6th – Saturday, 11th September, Soho Theatre, on tour from 6th September

Olga’s coming home, she’s coming home, she’s coming home, she’s coming to the Soho Theatre and then on tour (I lost it at the end there). Stand-up star Olga Koch brings out her third show, trying to figure out who she is as an immigrant and a teen drama queen. For tickets and more information click here!

Queer Comedy Vol. 3

Thursday, 9th September, Kindred Bradmore House

Well, hello stunning line-up. Chloe Petts headlines this delightfully queer night of lols in west London, with Jen Ives on hosting duties. Kathy Maniura, Helena Langdon, Alex Beighton and Victoria Olsina complete this starry mixed bill — honestly, the number of awards between the lot of them! For tickets and more information click here!

SORRY with Mae Martin

Sunday, 12th September, Underbelly Cavendish Square

SORRY but I will make no apologies for how much I love this improv group, and the only thing that could make me love them more is this addition to the evening: Mae Martin — actually, that’s Bafta nominated Mae Martin to you (and me). SORRY comedians Liz Kingsman, Alison Thea-Skot, Naomi Petersen, Sophie Broido and Lola-Rose Maxwell will be performing the show in aid of domestic violence charity Refuge. For tickets and more information click here!

Jenan Younis: Jenanistan

Wednesday, 22nd September, Clapham Fringe

Jenan Younis, winner of BBC New Voices and a comedian truly on the up, is work-in-progress-ing her new hour Jenanistan. She discusses what it’s like to be from an ethnicity so rare people assume it’s biblical — Assyrian — and tells tales of being trolled for calling out Stacey Dooley and being the only beige kid in her middle class Surrey school. For tickets and more information click here!

Funny Women Grand Final

Thursday, 23rd September, Bloomsbury Theatre

We hope you’ve been tuning into the Funny Women Awards so far on Twitch — so much talent in so little time! The Grand Final is approaching fast, when you’ll get to see the 10 Stage Award finalists before your very eyes, whittled down from 100s of entrants around the world. The Divine Ms Jayde Adams will be hosting the evening, and if you can’t make it in person, NextUp will be streaming the whole thing online. For tickets and more information click here!

Funny Women: Brighton Nights

Saturday, 25th September, Komedia Brighton

I do like to be beside the seaside, especially if that seaside is Brighton — Komedia isn’t exactly on the beach but it’s a lot closer to the sea than I am right now, so… This month’s Funny Women bill is headlined by Celya AB, with Vix Leyton, Freya Mallard, Karen Hobbs, Saven Chadha and host Katherine Kenway. For tickets and more information click here!

Drunk Women Solving Crime

Tuesday, 28th September, Museum of Comedy

Slap bang in the middle of their London residency, the Drunk Women — Hannah George, Catie Wilkins and Taylor Glenn are solving all sorts of crimes as they record two episodes of their podcast back to back. They’ve been going solidly throughout lockdowns, but let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a live record? For tickets and more information click here!
