Funny Women

Comedians aren’t just at risk of cabin fever during this time of social distancing and self-isolation, gig cancellations have meant not just loss of earnings but also fewer chances to try out new material or build audiences. However, being a creative lot, comedians have been flexing their comedy muscles online, using YouTube, Twitch, Twitter and other sites to connect with audiences, new and established alike. To help you get your comedy fix, every week we’ll be putting together a list of projects we’ve spotted online by funny women…

Sarah Keyworth and Catherine Bohart, 2015 and 2016 Funny Women Awards finalists respectively, have launched a weekly online show called Gigless. Catherine said: “We’re really keen to create a space where comedians can come and try new stuff; have a friendly audience, and also specifically try material about the current situation as comedy spaces catch up with this moment in time. We’re pumped to entertain from our flat.” The line ups promise to be great and tickets are £3, find out more on Catherine and Sarah’s socials media.

On Saturday 18th July 2014 Funny Women Award winner Jayde Adams will be hosting an online comedy showcase as part of Westival, the West End Centre in Aldershot’s annual festival. The show is free but donations are welcome. For details click here!

The NextUp Comedy Festival is still going strong, coming up they have shows from Tiff Stevenson, 2017 Funny Women Awards winner Thanyia Moore, Sindhu Vee, Olga Koch, Athena Kugblenu and more! Get your tickets here!

We will be back next week with more projects, you can tweet us @funnywomen or contact us on Facebook if you have a project you want us to share…
