After the success of the pilot show, Sophie Willan’s sitcom Alma’s Not Normal has been commissioned for a full series on BBC Two!
In the semi-autobiographical show, Willan plays Alma, a wild-child woman trying to get her life back on track following a recent break-up. 2014 Funny Women Awards winner Jayde Adams also stars in the show. Willan said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by the fabulous response to the pilot and I’m so excited to be developing the series”.
BBC comedy controller Shane Allen said: “Alma’s Not Normal landed so wonderfully formed with its distinctiveness, heart on sleeve charm, sparky humour and knockout cast. Sophie’s raw honesty, eye for characterisation and comedic insouciance have resulted in a cracking show bursting with potential.”
Alma’s Not Normal is executive produced by Willan and Evans. It was commissioned by BBC Two controller Patrick Holland, Allen and Kate Daughton.
