Next up on our list of 2019 Funny Women Awards Finalists is Kemah Bob who impressed us all at the London semi-final at Dingwalls…
Funny Women: How does it feel to be through to the 2019 Funny Women Awards final?
Kemah Bob: Being a Funny Women awards finalist feels really cool. It’s an honor. I imagine this feels like someone else making me jizz, if jizzing could change the trajectory of your life. And idk what that’s like, ‘cuz only I make me jizz.
FW: Describe your comedy to us.
KB: My comedy is pro-black, sex-positive and unapologetically so. It’s silly but real. I say get you a girl that can do both.
FW: What inspired you to start doing stand up?
KB: I found stand-up by feeling limited by every other form of expression I’d found on stage. Acting was playing a part in someone else’s story. In improv felt limited by whoever I shared the stage with. But with stand-up, I choose the story and set the limits.
FW: Who are your favourite funny women?
KB: SOME of my favourite funny women are Sophie Duker, Alison Spittle, Desiree Burch, Rosie Jones (who recently gave me some real-ass life advice that I’m not following) and lastly but not leastly Deborah Frances-White. These sisters are my keepers.
