In Jenny Bede: The Musical Jenny has decided to take things into her own hands. A diverse actor with a range that spans from PA to secretary, she just wants a chance to show the world what she’s got. So she has written a musical, or several musicals so we can see just how talented and deserving of a part in Cats, or any musical – it doesn’t have to be Andrew Lloyd Weber at all.

This show probably has the highest production values of any of the shows I have seen or will see at this year’s Fringe. Projector: tick, music tracks: tick, lighting design: tick. I’d expect no less from a former member of oo’s band Cherry Falls of course.

Intermixed with songs about white girls auditioning for Hamilton, mansplaining and sexy dead wives, Bede keeps up a great rapport with the audience, unfazed by a silent man at the back who refuses to give his name when asked. Bede is good company, funny and charming. This show could, could… be a bit cringe but due to her commitment to the show and great delivery it’s a fun, silly show that will satisfy and musical comedy fan.
