Glitter Challenge - Jaz Ampaw Farr

In 2025 Funny Women proudly launched The Glitter Challenge, mentoring 10 amazing women who have taken on a unique Comedy Challenge to raise vital funds for The Glitter Project.  Each challenger will be mentored by an experienced comedian, helping them write and perfect their own unique 5 minute set. The challenge culminates with a night of stand up, our challengers appearing live on stage at the world’s largest arts festival, Edinburgh Fringe 2025

The funds we raise from The Glitter Challenge will go towards giving women from all walks of life access to incredible creative opportunities in a safe, inclusive environment.

Let’s meet our next challenger…Jaz Ampaw Farr.

“No longer working class (after her middle child insisted on going skiing), but not middle class enough to buy Oat milk from Waitrose, Jaz isn’t not black enough to be proper 9 carat black or white enough to know the words to Sweet Caroline. She lives squarely in the ‘None of the Above’ category—somewhere between too much and not enough, depending on hormonal fluctuations.

A seasoned chaos navigator, she went from a foster care kid to award-winning motivational speaker and yet mysteriously still struggles to pull off parallel parking. Her recent ADHD diagnosis came as a shock to absolutely no one who’s spent more than ten minutes in her orbit.

Mum to three hilarious humans, wife to one fella with a frankly majestic bottom, Jaz’s CV spans classroom teacher, Z-list reality TV star and best selling author – she is basically one plot twist away from a Netflix docuseries. Comedy is either her spiritual home or a stepping stone to her true calling as a full-time pound shop Beyoncé lookalike.”

And on top of all that, Jaz has a book coming out which you can pre-order here.

“Because of You, This is Me” is a gut-punch of a memoir—raw, hilarious, and deeply moving. Jaz Ampaw-Farr proves that resilience isn’t just about survival, but about thriving against all odds. A must-read for anyone who believes in the power of human connection” – Zara Janjua – BBC Presenter, Journalist and author
