As an audience, we are warmly referred to throughout as ‘Friday’ and we feel most welcome and at one in our enjoyment of this high-energy musical extravaganza of glitter, glam and ‘edutainment’. By the finale, we are considering whether we can come back tomorrow as ‘Saturday’?
This supremely talented trio of Tess Waters, Rowena Hutson and Victoria Falconer each offer their own brand of clowning expertise with original songs and hilarious sketches while encouraging feminist empowerment and education. It’s the type of show where you’re having such a good time enjoying the unique chemistry and entertainment that when the cleverly interwoven waves of messaging land, the realisation and pleasure is immense.
The mixture of upbeat tunes and catchy ballads display delectable lyrical skill and together with winning dance moves and spangly costumes provide pure showbiz chutzpah for all to enjoy, ensuring the underlying point never feels forced. Who knew a witty song about the lack of pockets in women’s clothing could be a history lesson or another about whether ‘he likes you’ would be a challenge to part-time male feminists. The activism is clear but light-hearted and works well as something they call #Glamtivism.
We are in the presence of comedy professionals and the show is tightly produced but leaves plenty of space for delightful ad-libs and surprising moments particularly during the interactive game show segment. This is riotous and fabulous fun and the answers from our ‘Friday’s’ contestants are comical and revealing. Go and be inspired, bedazzled and unified as ‘Monday’ or ‘Thursday’.
