Damned, the Channel 4 social worker comedy series written by Morwenna Banks and Jo Brand with Will Smith (not that one) has not been picked up for a third series by the channel.

A Channel 4 spokesperson told British Comedy Guide: “Across two series of Damned, Jo Brand, Morwenna Banks and the What Larks! team created a warm, poignant, and pointed comedy of which we’re incredibly proud. However, with a number of other brand new comedy series already commissioned for 2019, there are currently no plans for a third series.”

However Damned’s production company What Larks! will endeavour to find a home for the show: “The incredible response to [the news] is testimony to the extraordinary following [Damned on Channel 4] had. Don’t worry, we are on the search for money & partners. We will bring Damned back.”

With a strong, diverse cast and subject matter that unflinchingly addressed the trials and tribulations both social workers and those in need of social workers face, Damned was an important TV show which found popularity in the press and general public. We hope What Larks! finds a new home for Damned soon!
