Philomena Cunk fans get ready for Cunk on Punk, Cunk on modern art and Cunk on Jane Austen. Speaking to the Radio Times Diane Morgan came up with a couple of subjects for Philomena Cunk to investigate for future informative documentaries.
Charlie Brooker had originally imagined the character as very posh, hence the name: “They wanted someone posh as the talking head because they already had Barry Shitpeas and they didn’t want to look as if they were taking the piss out of the working class. Then I bowled in and said, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if she had a Bolton accent?'”
Diane revealed that she is working on a script with childhood friend Maxine Peake, the comedian said: “I’m writing a sitcom for me and Maxine… it might go nowhere.
“We’re sisters, not identical obviously, that would involve a lot of prosthetics.
“One of them is slightly uncouth; one of them is a big famous actress… we’ve sort of used real life there.”
There was also the exciting news that Diane will be reprising her role in a full series of the BBC sitcom Motherland, written by Graham Lineham, Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh. Diane said she had heard only that day that the storylines have been finished and work has begun on scripts ready to film in June.
