Katherine Ryan is set for another busy year, with a Netflix special, a Channel 4 show and BBC Two show. It has been confirmed that the 2008 Funny Women Awards winner will be joining Romesh Ranganathan and Joe Lycett to host the pilot episode of BBC Two’s new comedy show That Thing On Friday Night.

The topical comedy format will feature stand-up, sketch, stunts and celebrities and a studio pilot is due to be filmed on Thursday 9th February and produced by Hat Trick Productions, the team behind Have I Got News For You.

The show is apparently part of the BBCs bid to launch a British style Saturday Night Live, a popular American show that features topical improvisations and impersonations which launched the careers of Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Kristen Wiig to name a few.

Netflix will be airing Katherine’s latest stand up show in February. The show, Katherine Ryan In Trouble: Entitled to Everything will be filmed at the Eventim Apollo ending her Kathbum tour. Netflix will stream it in the US and UK on Valentine’s Day.

If that wasn’t enough Katherine is also poised to present her own Channel 4 series about wealth called How Did You Get So Rich? in which Katherine says she gets to “legally snoop through people’s mega-homes and luxury possessions without having to sleep with a rapper. I want to know how somebody gets super rich, and what that lifestyle looks like from the inside. I hope not to offend, as a multi-millionaire could have me killed quite easily.”

It looks like 2017 is set to be the year of Katherine Ryan!
