On Tuesday 8th November some of the very best comedians in the UK will be gathering to raise money for Help Refugees at Conway Hall in London. The hilarious Jen BristerKerry Godliman and Tiernan Douieb will be hosting comedians such as Frankie Boyle, Sara Pascoe, Doc Brown, Richard Herring, Tez Illyas for Stand Up for Refugees to make you laugh and to raise money in aid of the current humanitarian crisis.

Help Refuges is a charity based in Calais, Lesbos and Athens which offers important frontline assistance to refugees, ranging from essential basic supplies and amenities such as clothes, food and shelter, to education, recreation and (along with partner organisations such as Citizens UK) lobbying and legal advice. The charity works everywhere where Governments and NGOs cannot be and unconstrained by red tape, politics and bureaucracy, so they can act fast to change lives.

Jen Brister said “I went to Calais earlier this year to see the brilliant work that Help Refugees UK are doing and to see how I could help. As a comic, organising a stand-up comedy tour with a mate seemed a great way to make use of our contacts. The idea is to not only raise money but also keep a dialogue going about Britain’s responsibility to take more refugees, particularly unaccompanied minors. The people waiting in camps in Calais and Greece shouldn’t have to rely on the kindness of the British public to donate money and volunteer in camps. I’m hoping this tour will raise people’s awareness of what is happening to many refugees all over the world, our moral obligation to help them and the importance of putting continued pressure on our government to act now.”

Jen’s co-host on the night Tiernan Douieb added: “The world is currently witnessing the biggest humanitarian crisis since World War II, and the incredible charity Help Refugees UK are doing what they can to aid people in need, while governments seem to be ignoring them. Myself, Jen and Kerry Godliman thought what better way to raise money for an important issue than by making an audience laugh in the face of the horrors of 2016 with an excellent line-up of comedians who all support the cause. Hopefully this will be the first of many shows.”

Stand Up for Refugees is at the Conway Hall on 8th November, tickets are £15, to book click here!
