Danielle Ward: Seventeen

Danielle Ward is 37, in 1996 she was 17 and she remembers that in the ’90s being a teen was hard. However if you think this is going to be a 90s nostalgia fest think again. Danielle reckons being 17 today must be even harder than it was two decades ago. So she has come up with some advice for teens today that we can probably all learn from, whatever our age.

The subjects of her advice range from virginity and sex to the property ladder – with a few anecdotes thrown in for good measure which are delightfully dated with snail mail featuring heavily; proving there were a few more barriers to publicly embarrassing yourself as a teenager in the ’90s and for that I think most of the audience were very grateful they are no longer 17.

This show is witty, frank and rude. And you know what, I lied, there is a little bit of ’90s nostalgia in there as Danielle opens with a song that is more than a nod to the Brit Pop era of girl fronted bands. Seventeen is a show that proves no matter how much the world may change, teenage angst remains the same.
