The comedy landscape is changing, with more emphasis on inclusivity and Brighton’s newest night Jape Culture is upping the momentum on Monday 14th December at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar.

Comedians Bryony No and William Stone started Jape Culture to bring more alternative comedy to the already thriving Brighton comedy scene. This night aims to be free from lad banter, homophobia and misogyny. William Stone explains: “We hope to stir up the comedy scene with Jape Culture. We are scouring the South East for the most original and interesting comedy happening right now. Bryony and I were a little bored of seeing comedy that was just young men in t-shirts noticing things. So we are trying to put together fun line ups that have at least 50% women on the bill”

With a bill featuring 2015 Funny Women Awards semi-finalist Catherine Bohart, Rebekka Turner, Sami Stone and Rebecca Shortall it looks set to be a great night.

Comedian and Jape Culture MC Bryony No said: “We’re really excited about our first night. It’s a cracking line up and we’ve got some exciting and innovative performers booked for the future too.”
