Have you ever watched a TED talk? They can be quite motivating, and I’ve been devouring every talk related to advertising and marketing on the Kindle app.

This month is my big chance to see some TED speakers impart their words of wisdom live, with the arrival of TEDxWhitehallWomen on the 29th May. Funnily enough, one of the speakers is Funny Women’s very own Lynne Parker. I dread to think of the strongly-worded emails she might send me if I’m not there… (I’m kidding. She’d tell me off in person.)
Other speakers include:

• Comic and writer Kathy Lette
• Psychologist Dr. Linda Papadopoulos
• DCMS Permanent Secretary Sue Owen
• Guardian Women in Leadership editor (and our Advisory Board member) Harriet Minter
• RADA in Business tutor Sheelagh McNamara

That’s not even the full list. It’s great to see a whole host of powerful and influential women turning out to share their wisdom (someone remind me to take a notebook and at least four pens). There are also quite a few male speakers too, including Paralympic champion Lord Holmes of Richmond. Inspiring stuff.

The main theme of the event is ‘momentum’, looking forwards and gaining traction in our careers. I like the sound of that. I’m ready to be motivated like never before – and I’ll be tweeting little gold nuggets of info live from the event all day.

If TEDx Whitehall Women sounds right up your street, join me. Tickets are still available but going fast, so with only two weeks to go you’d best register for the event now!

November Gig Guide

The evenings are getting darker, the temperatures chillier, the fireworks are exploding a fraction too close in the park, and those early Christmas tree decorators are bursting at the seams, which can only mean one thing: November.
