Women on the Front Line

Just as we honour women who take to the stage on the comedy circuit, it's good to celebrate women who really have been on the frontline of some of the world's most dangerous war zones.

In the first of a series of talks under the banner of 'My Unique Story…Women on the Front Line' hosted by Purple Tie Promotions, a panel of remarkable and inspirational women from the armed forces discuss their experiences.  They will talk, not only about their professional roles but also give a unique insight into their personal experiences of being in such an unpredictable and dynamic environment. We are assured of some laughs too!  How else do you cope when there is chaos all around you? A sense of humour is an essential weapon.

Lou, a Logistics Officer in the Army, will present a strategic overview on the planning and execution phases of preparing troops and their expectations for operational service (recalling events from two tours to Iraq and one to Afghanistan).  Recently returned from lengthy operational duties, she has firsthand experience of managing change, recognising leadership and monitoring team cohesion in an unfamiliar and challenging dynamic environment.

Air Engineer (Fleet Air Arm) Linzi, will share her experiences of training and qualifying to be the only female deployed in the Commando Helicopter Force, completing 5 tours to Iraq and 4 to Afghanistan.  Her accolades include some unique ‘female firsts’ and great pride in personal academic achievement. Linzi will speak about the importance of ’Core Values’ when coming ‘under fire’ and succeeding in a male dominated environment. We are sure she could show some male comedians a thing or two!

An experienced Physical Training Instructor in the Royal Navy, Jane will give a unique insight into the challenges and satisfactions of achieving a ‘comfortable’ work/life balance as a working mother and accomplished sportswoman.  Other factors that influence her decisions are her passion to be a good role model to her children, a supportive wife to her husband (who is in the Army) and an impending promotion.

We are exhausted just hearing about their achievements!  We honestly know so little about the lives of women in the armed forces so, if you fancy an inspirational evening, we highly recommend.
