The lovely Alex Maher is one of our three Best Show Award finalists, after we fell in love with her character comedy show Hope and Gloria at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Here's what Alex had to say about reaching the final:
"I have always loved comedy – especially character stuff – but I never felt brave enough to do it. I even wrote a full character show that I didn't perform because I was worried it wouldn't be good enough. Then, over the last few years, a couple of my closest girlfriends started to make waves on the comedy scene with their own amazing work and I was so inspired, I finally put my nerves to one side and went for it!
I'm absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for the Best Show Award – especially as Hope & Gloria is a character show. There are some truly brilliant female character comics out there at the moment and the more that people know about them, the better!"
