James Burns

Sketch double act, Twisted Loaf, comprise of Nina Smith and Libby Northedge.

They came from similar shells (one tall and red, one brown and scruffy) – class clowns who enjoyed entertaining their family and friends with characters and quips. They both ended up acting, both with a variety of companies; (Punchdrunk, Kindle Theatre, Odin Teatret, Lost & Found, Soho Theatre…)

They also spend their time teaching drama to small adults (kids) and big adults (actors). The latter profession brought them together on a skills sharing workshop!? Here, they decided to combine their shared skills of clowning, laughing, telling rude jokes and doing impressions of others. Their mutual joy of being idiots together soon became Twisted Loaf. After a year of gigging, the girls can't get enough!

They were thrilled to scoop the main prize sponsored by Benefit Cosmetics in the Final of this year's Funny Women Awards. See below a short film of how they relaxed after the contest – with a nod to the £500 worth of cosmetics that will be coming their way as part of their prize!
