At Funny Women, we love supporting a good cause as much as we love fantastic comedy – so a night that offers the chance for both is always an exciting event. We’re delighted to announce a night of brilliantly curated night of comedy at the Bloomsbury Theatre on 7th June, all in support of the Women’s Resource Centre.
Comedy Eve! will see a bill full of top funny women providing top quality entertainment for an excellent cause. The lineup includes the phenomenal Lucy Porter, BBC writer and comic Juliet Meyers, Melbourne-based comedy performer and actress Felicity Ward and the hilarious Nat Luurtsema, along with Show Me The Funny runner up Tiffany Stevenson and Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer nominee Cariad Lloyd. We’re pleased to see a plethora of Funny Women Awards alumni on the bill too, including Funny Women Awards 2008 runner-up Sara Pascoe – recently seen on Channel 4’s Campus and BAFTA-nominated Twenty Twelve. The lineup also includes Bridget Christie, who since the 2004 final has had a run of successful Edinburgh Fringe shows and a hilarious 4-part series on BBC Radio 4, and Leanne Davis, who along with appearing at February’s London Nights was also shortlisted for our Comedy Writing Award.
The Women’s Resource Centre is the only national umbrella organization for a number of women’s charities. Along with supporting member organizations through training, they also lobby the government on behalf of a number of groups who campaign for women’s issues. This is an incredibly important charity that provides support to women in our society who need it the most.
Comedy Eve! is a chance to see some of the best female comics on the circuit – as well as supporting a great cause. What’s not to like? We hope to see you there!
Comedy Eve! will take place on the Bloomsbury Theatre on Friday June 7th at 7.30pm.
