Are you a budding Ben Wheatly? Want to create characters like Mike Leigh? Our friends at LOCO London’s film making masterclass may be just the thing for you.

LOCO London are *very* excited to announce that they have opened applications for Kickstart Your Comedy Career, their two day training programme for comedy writers, directors and producers, funded by Creative Skillset. LOCO is a not-for-profit foundation whose mission is to kick-start the next generation of British-based comedy film-makers. They champion the craft of comedy film-making through training, screenings, outreach and funding. LOCO London is the UK’s only comedy feature film festival, and will be returning from 24th – 27th January 2013, providing welcome relief in the most miserable month of the year.

The Kick Start Your Comedy Career course will take place at the BFI Southbank on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th January 2013, during the LOCO London comedy film festival. This year their focus is on collaboration in comedy and the professional skills that filmmakers need to build a long-term comedy career.

Open to both men and women, there will be panel sessions, workshops, mentoring and networking. There will be directors, writers, producers, commissioners, development execs, agents, funders and more. Think collaboration, exciting contacts, new business skills, pitching opportunities and getting those tricky issues tackled.  And a fab party to boot! (We’ll be there! Ed.)

Deadline for applications is 27 Dec 2012

Date: Thursday 24th and Friday 25th January 2013

Venue: BFI Southbank

Cost: £150
