Former psychotherapist Taylor Glenn is offering FREE therapy to her fellow comics at the forthcoming Edinburgh Fringe! We’re not sure from the video below how much help this will be but it’s good to see the funny side of what can be a difficult topic.
“Ever feel like you're the craziest person in the room?” observes Taylor. “That's not a good sign when you're a psychotherapist.”
Taylor’s theme is high on the media agenda at the moment and mental health is currently the focus of the Channel 4 Goes Mad, season of programmes challenging mental health stigma and discrimination, which has featured ‘Ruby Wax’s Mad Confessions’ and John Richardson’s ‘A Little Bit OCD’.
Taylor’s ‘alternative’ approach is the subject of her debut solo stand up show, ‘Reverse Psycomedy’, which takes place at the Gilded Balloon from 1st to 26th August. We’re not sure she’ll help you get over your angst but a few therapeutic laughs are guaranteed.
An American comic based in the UK, Taylor is a former therapist who realised she had better follow her dreams before she started practicing material on patients instead of therapy. From childhood traumas involving feral cats, to the occupational hazards which come with spending too many days in the clinician's seat, this is a frank, revealing and utterly hilarious journey from one delightfully insane profession to another.
