Cho Dependent – Margaret Cho Review

Who is Margaret Cho? No clues from the audience which was a mix of well-heeled middle-class Edinburgh gentility and a strong showing from the gay community.

Margaret, it turns out has appeared on Dancing with the Stars with Bristol Palin (and fancies her mother, Sarah) was the ‘blackest person there’ on the set of Drop Dead Diva (Hell, she’s beige!) and is best friends with Cindy Lauper.

Margaret arrived on stage and announced straight away that all she wants out of a good Edinburgh Fringe is a joint and a f**k… and possibly a new young gay male best friend.  This shouldn’t be impossible for this sex-crazed 42 year old Korean American temptress who admits to being not too fussy…or was that pussy?  She makes it clear that she’s happy to take her sexual favours any way and any where they come… she talks a lot about that too!

Margaret’s bi-sexuality clearly adds to the potential of her followers and it’s a good show, although not for the sexually squeamish.  There are literally no holes barred when this lady speaks! The only hint of conservatism is when she does fantastic impressions  of her traditional Korean parents which gets the biggest laughs. The sex, poo, pubic hair and more get laughs as well, but some more out of shock than actual humour.

Margaret Cho transfers this show to our very own London venue later this year, the  Leicester Square Theatre, and is sure to attract the outré gay crowd that clearly adores her. So, if you like your comedy like you like your steak, raw, then this show’s for you!
