“If you’ve heard of me, I’m Kate Garraway – if you haven’t, I’m Lorraine Kelly.”

No, it really was Kate Garraway (sorry, Kate; we know you’re not supposed to explain the joke), and that was her performing her very own stand-up routine at The Comedy School in London. Why was she there? How did she do? Did she raise big belly laughs or were there only tumbleweeds? All of these questions and more will be answered…right now.

You see, Kate was doing some due diligence for her brand new website, goodypass.com, which offers 50%-70% off on local salons, restaurants, days out and amazing national deals. We asked Kate how it works.

"Well, the idea is to treat you like a celebrity by getting you the great deals, exclusive products and preferential services that usually only the big stars have access to. And we do it by bringing in our very own celebs – names including Angela Griffin, Lynda Bellingham, Dave Berry, James Haskell and Gemma Atkinson – and using their clout and razzle-dazzle to get you a great offer. Which means they sometimes end up testing out the venues themselves to make sure they’re good enough for you.

"We’ve got deals currently running on spa visits, health ‘n’ beauty services, days out, hotel stays, restaurants, dance classes, hair salons and much more in 33 cities and counties across the UK, and we also provide discounts that go out nationwide.

"All you have to do is sign up to the site at no charge, and you’ll receive an email every time new deals arrive in your local area. From there it’s just a matter of deciding which offers you’d like to take advantage of. All of the deals stay on the site for a month, except in special cases…because we like to make sure you won’t miss out.

"You may also want to check Goodypass out on Facebook and Twitter, where we regularly offer competitions with some great prizes – a Kodak digital frame, a two-day break at Champney’s Spa, and Hugo Boss toiletries presented to me by Orlando Bloom (no less!) have been amongst our most recent ones."

Kate joins the judging panel for the charity final of this year's Funny Women Awards on Monday 26th September.
