Last Monday, backstage at the Leicester Square Theatre was bursting with big comedy names all gathered together for Women In Journalism’s first ever comedy night. Funny Women partnered with Women In Jounalism to bring a hilarious night of fantastic comedy.
The common theme of the evening was that all of the acts performing were also writers in their own right. Sandi Toksvig hosted the show brilliantly with big names such as comic actress and writer Helen Lederer making an appearance. Shazia Mirza, acclaimed stand-up and columnist for The Guardian, headlined the bill superbly. Thankless Child treated the audience to their alternative sea shanty and Philippa Fordham brought her baby to the stage- that’s herself dressed as a baby not an actual child! Susan Calman (a previous Funny Women finalist) and Viv Groskop (British journalist and writer) both performed hilarious sets.
