It’s December, which can only mean one thing: you can rely on a swathe of new and *excellent Christmas movies gracing our Netflixes in the form of returning 00s heartthrobs – personal favourites include millenial heartthrobs Chad Michael Murray and Lacey Chabert (Gretchen Weiners) in their respective blockbusters. Similarly reliably, to kick off this festive month, Funny Women have a fresh batch of cracking comedy shows to recommend. We have (very almost) got through 2024, so I reckon you all deserve a round of applause, and speaking of, why not warm those chilly hands and faces cheering and whooping with laughter at some top notch touring shows and wonderful work in progresses featuring some fantastic female and non-binary comedians?

Musical Comedy Awards winner 2023 Katie Norris brings her critically acclaimed and dazzling debut hour show to Soho Theatre this month of the back of a sold out run at this year’s Fringe, covering the trials and tribulations of her dating life mostly through the medium of song. A particular highlight for me is the number dedicated to a twenty-something French DJ, and fantasising about becoming his ‘mummy’. I can’t recommend it enough.
