The results of this year’s Edinburgh Awards for Best Show and Best Newcomer have been announced this morning. Taking home the Best Newcomer Award for 2023 is Urooj Ashfaq, with her debut show Oh No! The Best Show Award 2023 has been awarded to Ahir Shah, for his show Ends.
Urooj Ashfaq, a Mumbai based comic, previously performed her show earlier this year at Soho Theatre in London, and gained aplomb as a comic from getting to the Final of TLC’s show Queens of Comedy. Previous accolades also include writing for sit com Die Trying. Ashfaq is an impressive force to be reckoned with, especially considering all she’s achieved at 22.
