Chloe Petts is angry. If you, like me, have seen Petts perform before, this might take you by surprise but the usually very amiable comic was recently informed by her therapist that she has anger issues and for this show, she’s decided to let that anger out and it’s going to be directed at you the audience, you thick idiots. And heaven help you if you’re a fan.
A lesser comic walking on stage and calling a member of the audience old, no, not old, elderly, might manufacture an awkward atmosphere. But, even when actively trying to be rude, Petts is just so damn likeable that her elderly front row laugh it off.
Assuming the role of alpha in the room, Petts shares with us the many ways she is actually quite a uniting force. Who else would regularly combine in one audience football lads and gentle queers? And at a straight wedding she is there to rally the children, chat up the woman who is punching well below her weight and sort out the man punching above his.
While there is a moment of peril in the show involving a confrontation on a London bus, Petts keeps this show quite light with a relaxed performance that makes this hour fly by.
